FRESNO - Forward Lauren Maris scored in the 20th minute off an assist from fellow University of San Francisco grad
Kiki Robinson to lead the North Bay Wave women's semipro soccer team to an important victory over the Clovis Sidekicks
in Fresno on Sunday. Maris scored again in the 27th minute when she netted Zoe Carrol's through-ball assist inside
the far post. Robinson got the Wave's final goal in the 87th minute off Tiffany Hurst's assist.
"It was about 105 degrees out here today and we only had 13 players against a full squad," North Bay coach Luis
Quezada said, "but every one of (our girls) played with heart. (The Sidekicks) had speed and fresh legs; we
played smarter and our defense took every angle out."
Goalie Lindsay Dickerson earned a clean sheet for the Waves (5-2) with five saves. On defense Hurst, Haley Abbott
and Kristina Hall showed great composure in shutting down the angles on Clovis' offense, which had tallied 40
goals in the six games leading up to Sunday's matchup. The win ties North Bay with Clovis (5-3) for second place
on points, although Clovis has a game-in-hand.
